Quantum metrology is one of the pillars of quantum technologies. It shows how one can use quantum effects, such as entanglement and squeezing, to increase the precision of the measurements one can do. It also establishes the ultimate bounds, on precision that any measurement can achieve, e.g. through the Heisenberg uncertainty relations and the quantum speed limits.

SPINUS - New Project launched

The EU-funded project SPINUS aims to pioneer scalable solid-state quantum computing. It focuses on advancing research through experimental platforms based on solid-state spin qubits. The project has a comprehensive focus on material design, control techniques, readout technology, and tailored quantum algorithms.

Quantum optimal control is concerned with developing innovative and efficient approaches to manipulate quantum systems. This can be achieved by avoiding adverse effects, such as decoherence or the population of undesired states, and by exploiting numerical optimizations.

A microscopic understanding of quantum systems is crucial for their engineering. Detailed knowledge about the interactions within a system as well as its coupling to external fields can provide opportunities for accurate quantum state manipulation and quantum sensing.

The quest for a better theoretical understanding and experimental exploitation of many-body phenomena motivates us to develop and apply innovative control approaches as well as numerical simulation techniques such as tensor network algorithms.
