Interest Groups for Supervisors

There are various opportunities for employees who supervise research work on doctoral projects to obtain and share information on the issue of supervision. Their interests are also represented on various JuDocs bodies.

Supervisors’ Forum

The Supervisors’ Forum is an interest group for scientific supervisors at Forschungszentrum Jülich. It is open to all employees who supervise doctoral projects in their day-to-day work. The Supervisors’ Forum usually meets twice a year to discuss issues related to supervision that are raised by the forum’s spokespersons and participants. Additional working groups are formed for specific topics.

JuDocs council

The JuDocs council consists of around 20 institute heads or scientists with many years of experience as a supervisor from all of Forschungszentrum Jülich’s institutes. Committees are formed out of the members of the council for the monitoring and crisis counselling of all doctoral researchers and supervisors. For issues related to supervision, employees can either reach out to their institute representatives or contact the JuDocs council for any specific questions they have. The JuDocs council advises the JuDocs management team and ensures information is communicated to all institutes.

JuDocs management team

The JuDocs management team comprises one institute head as a spokesperson and one institute head as a deputy head, both of whom have many years of experience supervising doctoral projects. On behalf of the Board of Directors, they continue to optimize structured doctoral support at Jülich and task the JuDocs administrative office with managing operational activities.
