Framework conditions for doctoral researchers

Doctoral researchers are the backbone of research. With their original ideas and dedication, they contribute decisively to progress in science. The employment of doctoral researchers at Jülich is governed by a doctoral contract, which usually has a term of three years. Doctoral researchers are trained and supervised at Forschungszentrum Jülich in close collaboration with the universities. Doctoral degrees are always conferred by a university.

Paid annual leave after a change in working hours or employment

Employees of Forschungszentrum Jülich who make the transition from employment not governed by wage agreements (e.g. doctoral researchers, student assistants) to employment governed by the collective agreement (TVöD) retain their existing amount of remaining annual leave. In terms of salary payments, the remaining annual leave is weighted in accordance with the “value” of the previous employment status.
