Reconciliation of work and family life

Often, completing a doctoral degree and having children coincide. Forschungszentrum Jülich has different measures in place to support parents and parents-to-be.

Parental leave for doctoral researchers

Doctoral researchers are entitled to parental leave. In accordance with German legislation on fixed-term contracts (WissZeitVG §2 (5)), doctoral researchers who have a doctoral contract with Forschungszentrum Jülich are entitled to extend the term of their contract by the duration of their parental leave. Personnel Management at Human Resources (P-B, Personalbetreuung) is responsible for all issues regarding the procedure and relevant personal questions.

Equal Opportunities Bureau (BfC)

The Equal Opportunities Bureau (BfC, Büro für Chancengleichheit) coordinates all activities dealing with work and family life as well as equal opportunities. The team at BfC provides assistance on all issues related to pregnancy, parental leave, childcare, reconciliation of work and family life, and equal opportunities.
