Alexander Thieß is a former doctoral researcher of Forschungszentrum Jülich. After receiving his PhD in theoretical physics in 2012, he started working in industry as a development engineer and project manager. Since 2016 he is the managing director of Spicetech GmbH.

Spicetech was founded in 2016 and is a consulting firm at the interface of IT and engineering. They are experts for IT consulting, tailor-made solutions for data management and artificial intelligence. For example, they developed an AI-based forecasting system for sales-optimized food production and processing based on self-learning algorithms.

When it comes to picking your first job, you’ll have a lot of options to choose from. By reporting pro’s and con’s over his full range of experience from corporate via mid-sized company consulting and software down to start-up jobs, Alexander will give you some input for your considerations. These insights will be independent on the field of study most interesting for future alumnis, who intend or have to leave their central field of scientific expertise by beginning the first job in the industry world.
