Jointly with the Research Center Jülich (Forschungszentrum Jülich), the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf in cooperation with the Institute for Neuroscience and Medicine (INM-1) at the Research Center Jülich invites applications for a

Junior Professorship (W1) for Transfer Learning for Microscopic Image Analysis

in computer science starting on 01.10.2021.

We are looking for a person with a scientific focus in the automatic analysis of high-resolution image data (Image Analysis, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Deep Learning). Applicants should be particularly identified in this area through outstanding publications. The willingness to acquire competitive third-party university with existing work groups and research associations is expected, both within the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and across faculty boundaries, especially with the neurosciences and the Heine Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (HeiCAD). In addition, we expect an appropriate participation in teaching and in self-administration, especially in the bachelor‘s and master‘s courses in computer science.

Applicants will be hired in accordance with the general prerequisites pertaining to service law of section 36 of the North Rhine-Westphalia University Act (Hochschulgesetz NRW) which require an aptitude for teaching, exceptional competence in research, and additional scientific achievements.

The appointment will initially take place for a period of three years as a temporary civil servant. In the event of probation as a university lecturer, the civil service contract should be extended by a further three years in the third year.
