Master Thesis: Discontinuous Galerkin (DG) Method in Chromatography Modeling

The CADET project (cadet.github.io) is developed at Forschungszentrum Jülich for many years as simulator for chromatographic separation systems and further unit operations in pharmaceutical and chemical industries and published as open source code. The project is actively managed and developed in Jülich und has a broad international user community. The existing code is implemented in C++ and uses a finite volume approach for solving the underlying partial differential equations. This shall be complemented with a discontinuous Galerkin (DG) approach that has been successfully tested in a closed project (doi.org/10.1016/j.compchemeng.2020.107012).

The project is very suitable for a Master thesis in Computational Engineering Science and related fields. CADET is promoted by a young, dynamic and communicative team with broad expertise in process modeling, numerical methods and software engineering. Candidates can make a real and visible contribution and must bring substantial programming experience.
