€ 6.5 Million for Investigating New Storage Materials

Jülich, 11 March 2015 – The transformation of the energy sector requires effective and affordable energy storage systems to make wind and solar power available throughout the year. This is based on the investigation of suitable storage materials, which has gained momentum through a total of five projects at Forschungszentrum Jülich. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is providing € 6.5 million in funding within the framework of the programme on materials research for the transformation of the energy sector. State Secretary for Research Thomas Rachel, Member of the German Bundestag, personally announced the funding in Forschungszentrum Jülich on 11 March.
